Ralph Oliver Olsen, 86, of Owatonna, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home. He was born April 14, 1931 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the son of William and Elizabeth (Bisch) Olsen. Ralph graduated from Albert Lea High School with the class of 1949. He graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Agriculture with a bachelor of science degree in Poultry Science. In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Ralph married Marjorie Christie on June 16, 1956 in Faribault. He worked in Altura for 3 years then the Owatonna Canning Company for 30 years, retiring in 1991. Ralph was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, spending time at the cabin and working on various projects around the home and farm. He is survived by his daughters, Beth (and David) Myren of Eagan, Brenda (and Richard) Lounsbury of Knoxville, TN; sons, Paul (and Sharri) Olsen of Eleva, WI, Kent (and Amy) Olsen of Victoria; grandchildren, Sarah, Brent, Eric, Brian, Joshua, Andrew, Matthew, Alyssa; sister-in-law, Yvonne Christie of Hastings; nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; one son; two brothers; 3 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
