Ramona Laura Asprey, 88, of West Concord, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Seasons Hospice House, Rochester. She was born February 15, 1931 in Rochester the daughter of Haven and Myrtle (Berkner) Bartel. Ramona Laura Bartel grew up on a dairy farm near Kasson. Ramona was involved in her church and 4H at a very early age. She enjoyed her cattle and helping in and outside the house. Ramona married Haven Asprey on March 30, 1955 at her home church, Pleasant Corners Methodist, in Kasson. Haven and Romana started their life together on a small working farm with dairy cattle. Ramona and Haven had four boys who were constantly involved in the First Baptist Church of West Concord and 4H. If the doors of the church were open, the family was there. Ramona was an avid participant as a superintendent and teacher of Sunday School and Awanas for many decades. She was a prayer warrior and ready to serve the Lord in any way possible. Ramona was also very active in the farm, getting up to milk at 1 o'clock in the morning and then again in the afternoon. She also worked outside of the home part time off and on, while raising her boys and running a household. Ramona was also known for her ability to find a deal, just like her dad, and yet get the deal for an even better price. Her thought was "Somebody will be able to use this someday!" She thought more of others needs than her own. She was a remarkable grandmother, fondly named the "ice cream grandma!" Ramona loved unconditionally and never faltered with the truth of God's love and his unfailing love for his people. It is truly unknown how many souls she brought to the Lord. She is survived by her sons, Garth (and Janet) Asprey of Dodge Center, Kevin (and Reeny) Asprey of Hayfield, David (and Jill) Asprey of Solon, IA; daughter in law, Ann Asprey-Erdmann of Mantorville;, 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haven Asprey; son, Randy Asprey; brother, Duane Bartel. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at Faith Community Church on Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 2019 at 10:30am at Faith Community Church with David Breederland officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson. Memorials are preferred to faith Community Church, Seasons Hospice House or to the donor's choice.
