Rayfield 'Ray' Norlin Anderson, 84, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on September 6, 1926 in Berlin Township, the son of Rudolf and Ethel (Andersen) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at LeSueur River Lutheran Church. On June 8, 1948, Ray was united in marriage to Lorraine Minges at St. John Lutheran Church. Rayfield and Lorraine were married for sixty years. They enjoyed building their family and future together. They were great partners on the dance floor and in life. For Rayfield, farming was not only a career, it was also a hobby and one of his passions. He was innovative and dedicated to creating a legacy for his family. Whether it was building houses, improving the land, or helping others, Ray was driven to complete his projects, big and small. When Ray was not farming, he enjoyed walking outside and visiting with neighbors and friends, always greeting them with a firm hand shake. He is survived by two sons, Rodney (and Gail) Anderson of Owatonna and Randall Anderson of Owatonna; daughter, Renee (and Richard) Pavek of Rochester; brother-in-law, Wayne (and Thelma) Minges of Owatonna; six grandchildren, Jesse (and Sheri) Anderson, Benjamin (and Andrea) Anderson, Jered (and Sara) Anderson, Christina (and Evan) Schwab, Jennalee (and Ryan) Oefstedahl, Jacob Anderson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brice, Aiden, Shay, Halle, Landon, and Alexis; sister, Marge Schroeder; brother, Rudy Anderson. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, his parents, father and mother-in-law, Frank and Minnie Minges; siblings, Virginia, Donald, Merlin, and Edward. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 2pm to 6pm and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:30am with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
