Raymond Lloyd Gibbs, age 79, a life-long resident of Dodge Center died from lung disease at Fairview Care Center on Thursday, February 15. He was born to Lloyd and Thelma (Johnson) Gibbs on April 21, 1938. He attended school in Dodge Center and served in the Army Reserves after graduation. Ray married Evelyn McDonald on August 2,1963. Although he held several other jobs as a young man, Ray was always a farmer. His favorite hobby was driving tractor, and he was known as a man who really knew how to back up a tractor with any type of equipment attached behind it. Ray was particularly proud to have been an early adopter of ridge-till farming. In later years, his pride and joy was his two cylinder tractor collection, which he enjoyed taking to tractor pull competitions and parades. He was also a man of strong faith who was active in several churches over the years and who held a variety of church leadership positions. He also enjoyed playing board games, especially Risk, and visiting with friends. Ray is survived in death by his wife, Evelyn; children, David and Cristy; siblings, Richard (Shari), Phyllis (Jim) Alsdurf, Darlene (Mike) Collins, Ronald (Debbie). He was preceded in death by his siblings, David, Lois (Paul) Hagemeister and Linda. Funeral services officiated by Pastor David Breederland will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3pm at Faith Community Church, 305 State St, West Concord, MN 55985 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Community Church, Circle Drive Manor Assisted Living, or Fairview Care Center. A very special thank you goes to the staff of Circle Drive Manor Assisted Living, West Concord and Fairview Care Center, Dodge Center, who took such excellent care of Ray during his final months.
