Raymond Carl Wayne, 84, of Owatonna, died Friday, January 4, 2019 at his home. He was born December 22, 1934 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the son of Alvin and Elsie (Prantner) Wayne. He graduated from Faribault High School, Class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Navy in December of 1952 and served until his honorable discharge in August of 1960. He served on the aircraft carriers, USS Midway, USS Enterprise, USS Monterey and the USS Coral Sea. He married Ida Leiven in 1957. The couple lived in California until Ray was discharged from the military. They moved to Owatonna and Ray worked as an engineer at the Owatonna Power Company. In 1969, the couple purchased the Snack Shop and in 1976 they purchased the Hoff's Bar which he currently owned and operated. Ray enjoyed fishing and the annual fishing trips up north, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and socializing at the bar. He is survived by his children, Belinda (Patrick) Selcer of Bixby, OK; Karla (Tim Bos)) Wayne of Austin, MN and Clay (Leanne) Wayne of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Kennedy Selcer, Riley Selcer, Morgan Wayne, Eliana Wayne and Peyton Wayne and siblings, Roberta (Kenneth) Zak of Owatonna and Robert (Barb) Wayne of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Elsie; wife, Ida and siblings, William Wayne, Ronald Wayne, Ramona Dittman, Shirley Valentyn and Judy Gregor. The family would like to say a special, heartfelt thank you to the Allina Hospice Team members, Ruth, Janell, Herminia and Heide, who took such great care of Ray. Memorials preferred to Allina Hospice in Owatonna. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on February 7, 2019 from 4:00 - 6:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held on February 7, 2019 at 6:00pm at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with Chaplain Justin Ray officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on February 8, 2019 at 11am gathering in Assembly #5.
