Raymond L. Willday, 86, of Blooming Prairie, formerly of Owatonna, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born April 9, 1924 on the family farm in Otisco Township, the son of Lawrence and Grace (Leslie) Wilday. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. In 1944, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, which consisted of a 20 year military career, later retiring as a master sergeant in the United States Air Force. On July 24, 1963, Raymond was united in marriage to Maria Mejias Toro in Gibraltar. After his retirement, Raymond worked at Sears Roebuck and Great Plains Gas in Owatonna, again retiring in 1982. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary; two daughters, Ana (and Terry) Trom of Blooming Prairie, and Terry Noble of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Mark Trom, Melissa (and Brandon) Stoen, Heather (and Thomas) Madler, Delana (and Shayne) Dinkle, Amber (and Andre) Vincent; seven great-grandchildren, brothers, Joe Wilday and George Wilday; sisters, Loretta Linders and Doris (and Don) Molle. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Florence. Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11AM at the United Methodist Church with Reverend James D. Oberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
