Obituary

Rev. Martin H. Krause, a Missouri Synod Lutheran Pastor, 82, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Homestead Hospice House. Martin was born June 1, 1930 in Stover, Missouri the son of Otto and Gertrude (Schultz) Krause. He graduated from Concordia Academy, St. Paul. Martin attended Concordia University, St. Paul, and Concordia Seminary, Springfield, IL. After seminary he married Elda Wohlrabe on August 15, 1954. Martin then continued graduate courses at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Martin began his ministry with three churches in Wisconsin. He then served Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland, Rose of Sharon in Cottage Grove, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, and Peace Lutheran in Claremont. Martin retired after 52 years of service. Martin loved his shop where he enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed motorcycles, radio controlled air planes, listening to music, reading and gardening. Martin was quick with a joke and loved to share stories. His main purpose in life was to share his love of his Savior Jesus with others. Martin deeply loved his children and grandchildren. Martin is survived by his wife, Elda Krause of Owatonna; children, Dan (and Peggy) Krause of Afton, Karen (and Keith) Haerer of Marysville, MI, Brent (and Jane) Krause of Hugo, Brenda (and Wyatt) Gutzke of Rockford; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Andrea, Adam, Sean (Faith), Caleb (Sarah), JoHannah, Rebecca, Jacob, Kelli, Shannon (Dani), Michelle, Alexis, Addison; brother, David (and Kathleen) Krause; brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Lietz. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hubert Krause; sister, Donna Lietz. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Pastor Warren Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Family prefers memorials to Camp Omega in Waterville.
