Rev. Dr. Ward B. Malloy, age 69, of Faribault, died in Rochester, MN on September 8, 2017 after complications from a fall combined with a lengthy illness called Marfans Syndrome. Ward was born May 5, 1948 in Oakland, California to Edwin and Elizabeth Malloy, raised in communities from California to Oregon. Ward completed his bachelors degree from Pacific University in Oregon, his masters degree from United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, MN in 1976 and relocated to the Midwest where he spent the rest of his life. Ward married Marianne Mulkins in 1984 and they recently celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Rev. Dr. Ward Malloy was ordained as a minister in 1976 in the United Church of Christ and served congregations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois for over 40 years. He earned his doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL in 2000. Ward loved being a pastor and had a keen sense for being there when someone needed him. He walked alongside hundreds of people through some of the toughest journeys of life. Ward loved to lead youth group trips and sing with the choir. Many will tell you his favorite question was What can I do for you? Family was always Ward's top priority. Wood-working, stained glass, pottery and guitar were past times he enjoyed over the years. Ward loved his trips to Alaska, Europe, the Grand Tetons and more. Ward enjoyed playing miniature golf and soaking up sunshine during winters in Arizona.
Ward is survived by his wife, Marianne Malloy, children, Julianne Steffens (George) of Wildwood, IL, Steven Grunwald (Anne) of Wixom, MI, Celina Peerman (David) of Waverly, IA, Luke Malloy (Beth) of Plymouth, MN and Stephanie Solis (Beau) of Prior Lake, MN. Ward was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two brothers.
