Rhonald E. Johnston, 91, of Hayfield, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Rhonald was born April 26, 1923 in Ashland Township the son of Vernon and Jeanette (McEathron) Johnston. Rhonald married Lorette Jensen; she passed away in 1946 from polio. He married Dorothy Kirkland on February 26, 1950. Rhonald served in the United States Army during World War II. He farmed in the concord area and worked for Doyle and Connor, BDwitz and Elliots construction until he retired in 1965. After retirement he helped out local farmers. He loved the outdoors, auto racing and traveling especially to Europe. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Johnston, Hayfield, MN; Children, Barb (Tom) Threinen, Mantorville, MN, Bonnie Johnston, CA, and Rhonda (Dwight) Hvitved, Goodhue, MN; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Charles and Rodney Johnston, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in West Concord on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be held immediately following the visitation in Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
