Richard 'Dick' A. Anderson , 81, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Rice County District 1 Hospital. Dick was born December 10, 1931 in Blooming Prairie, the son of Irvin and May (Hanson) Anderson. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1950. He married Evelyn McIllece on April 15, 1951. Dick served in the Navy for four years and then attended Winona State University and completed his teaching degree. He was an elementary school teacher from 1959-92. He also coached elementary basketball, junior high football, and varsity golf. Dick was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He volunteered his time to the boy scouts, Kenyon VFW, and Kenyon Sportsman''s Club. He served as president of the Kenyon Country Club and loved to golf. His hobbies included horses, sports, hunting and fishing. He loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities. He was passionate about everything he did. Dick is survived by his sons, David (and Debra) Anderson of Rochester, Roger Anderson of Kenyon; brother, Irvin Anderson, Jr. of Arlington; grandsons, Jay (and Natalie) Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Mitchell Anderson; granddaughters, Angie Anderson, Kelli Anderson; great-grandchildren, Thomas Temple, Dakota Temple, Cora Anderson, Peyton Temple, Oakley Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Anderson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held February 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie Cemetery in Blooming Prairie at a later date. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice. Honors will be provided by Kenyon Veterans Color Guard.
