Richard George Amberg, 77 year old resident of Owatonna, MN died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Traditions II in Owatonna, MN. He was born April 23, 1938 in Waseca, MN, to Michael and Theresa (Fox) Amberg. Richard was united in marriage to Sandra Talley on January 19, 1957 in Long Beach, CA. The couple returned to Minnesota after their marriage. Richard worked at Herters Sporting Goods in Waseca and Design homes in Waseca. He also started Amberg Construction in the 1970's. Richard worked at Mustang Manufacturing in Owatonna for 12 years before retiring. After his retirement he worked several part-time jobs including Cabela's and the Salvation Army. His favorite was the Salvation Army. Richard also enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and prairie dog hunting with his sons. He is survived by sons, Mike (Susan) Amberg of Palm, PA; Robert (DeeAnn) Amberg of Geneva, MN; daughter, Renee Larson of Cannon Falls, MN; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Emmy Amberg of Prior Lake, MN, Barb & Jack Monahan of Waseca, MN, Lori & Jerry Wobschall of Ellendale, MN, Margie & Odean Otterson of Clarks Grove, MN; and Corrine Talley of Owatonna, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra Amberg; and 6 siblings. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, February 19 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens following the service.
