Richard Dick Caryl Clemens, Sr., 81, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Traditions II.
He was born August 19, 1936 in Pine Island Township the son of Russell and Mabel (Ellefson) Clemens. Dick graduated from Pine Island High School and started working at Dick's Service Station. He married his first wife Shirley in 1955 and they were later divorced. Dick served in the US Army Reserves in 1956. Dick worked as a tow truck driver for Dick's 66 Service, owned D&S Coffee Service, worked for Schott's Distributing and was a salesman for Famous Brands Liquor while living in Rochester. After moving to Owatonna, he managed the Ziebart business, drove truck for Carl Ulrich hauling produce into the Owatonna Canning Company and later owned his own trucks hauling produce. On August 28, 1981, he married Sharon Joachim at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. After retirement, he and his wife began selling toy tractors and NASCAR at local and regional toy shows throughout the five state area.
Dick was very active in the Eagle's Club in Owatonna. He received numerous awards for his service and served as the Aerie's President in 1981-82. Dick made the best damn" pancakes ever and was proud to have his recipe used for pancake breakfasts. He loved camping, NASCAR and traveling to toy shows with Sharon.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Clemens of Owatonna; children, Bonnie Nelson of Owatonna, Richard (Karen) Clemens, Jr. of New Hampton, IA, Patty Smith of Blaine, Robert Clemens of Petrolia, TX, Nancy (and Duane) Martinz of Custer, SD, James Storm of Phoenix, AZ, Kim (and Greg) Bremseth of Preston, Nikki (and Eddie) Krenzelok of Owatonna; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Larry Smith.
Memorial services will be held May 5, 2018 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
