Obituary

Richard Paul Gasner, 89, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home at Brookdale Assisted Living. He was born February 21, 1928 in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota the son of Andrew and Agnes (Kabbage) Gasner. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Medford. On May 23, 1948 he was united in marriage to Donna Wiuff. The couple owned and operated a grocery story in Bixby for a few years. A few years later, they moved to Oregon and operated a gas station and eventually returned to Owatonna and Richard began his 43 year career with Jostens. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling to the West Coast to visit family. For many years they would purchase fixer upper homes and remodel them. Eventually, they purchased a hobby farm southwest of Owatonna where Richard enjoyed raising his cows, sheep and chickens, putting up hay and taking care of his large lawn. He is survived by children, Kathleen M. Herron of Bloomington, Andrew C. (Marilyn) Gasner of Owatonna, Theodore R. Gasner of Owatonna and Kristine J. (Ken) Beck of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Kimberly Herron, Sean Herron, Christopher Gasner and Mitchell Beck and a step-granddaughter, Michelle Daniels and her two children, Kassie and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Gasner and three brothers, Ervin, Lyle and Lavern; Visitation is at the Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Saturday, March 25th from 2-3pm. Funeral service is at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 3pm. Interment will be in Crane Creek Cemetery in Deerfield Township.
