Richard Lee Johnson, 73, of Claremont, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna after a courageous battle against cancer. Richard was born January 28, 1941 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota on the family farm the son of Raymond and Helen (Ellis) Johnson. He was a 1959 graduate of Blooming Prairie High School. He married Jonna Sawyer on August 3, 1963. He worked for Von Ruden's from 1963 to 1970, then Owatonna Tool Company from 1970 to 1995 and from 1995-2007 he worked for Al-Corn from where he retired. Richard also raised hogs on the family farm untill 1984. He enjoyed spending his winters in Wellton, AZ and his summers on Lake Tetonka. He loved golfing, bowling, hunting, camping, fishing and above all else spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Steven (Kacie Haessly) Johnson, of Rochester, MN, Stephanie (Tim) Ritter, of Owatonna, MN, Shalaine (Jay) Evert, of Owatonna, MN; brothers, Roger (Helen) Johnson, of Albert Lea, MN, Darel (Betty) Johnson, of Waseca, MN, Larry (Shirley) Johnson, of Owatonna, MN; sisters, Carol (Don) Ingvaldson, of Owatonna, MN, Linda (Albert) Kath, of Waseca, MN, Sue Schmidt, of Waseca, MN; grandchildren, Josh (Tara) Ritter, Ryan and Matthew Ritter, Hailee and Caleb Johnson, Jaylin and Joe Evert and great-granddaughter, Avery Beth Ritter. He is preceded by his wife, Jonna Johnson (2012); parents, Ray and Helen Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, JD and Jeanne Sawyer; brother-in-laws, Sheldon Schmidt and Rex Brown. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at The Associated Church with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont.
