Richard Dale Johnson, Dick, 64, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home.
He was born August 27, 1953 in St. Paul the son of Dale and Joan (Lynch) Johnson. Dick graduated from Owatonna High School in 1971. Following high school he worked for the State of Oregon and later returned to Owatonna where he worked for the City of Owatonna. Dick owned and operated Classic Glass supplying glass for classic cars and street rods. He traveled to car shows all across the country selling glass and making friends wherever he went. In 1991, he started working for Bill Hartle, driving tractors and truck during harvest. He was currently driving truck for Polyethylene Technologies.
Dick was a member of the Elk's Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, cooking, grilling for friends and woodworking. He was very handy and made an assortment of things from old barn wood. He loved classic cars and traveling. Dick developed many friendships across the country while traveling to 46 of the 50 states. He lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Johnson of Owatonna; siblings, Gary (and Karen) Johnson of Prosperity, SC, Pam (and Brad) Larson of Apple Valley, Colleen (and Jeff) Hollister of Owatonna, Kevin (and Kim Harpel) Johnson of Owatonna, Kirk (and Julie) Johnson of Owatonna, Jeff Johnson of Minnetonka and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Johnson.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 1pm to 4pm at the Elk's Lodge in Owatonna.
