Richard Robert Mead, 51, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Richard was born April 24, 1964 in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Sharon (Mason) Mead. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna. He was a 1982 graduate of Owatonna High School. Rich became a master electrician working alongside his father at Smith Owatonna Electric. He was currently working as project manager at R & K Electric in Owatonna. Rich married Kathy Lageson on February 4, 1990 and they made their home in rural Blooming Prairie. Rich loved his family and spending time with them. He had a passion working on his cars and enjoyed home improvement projects with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mead of Blooming Prairie; his daughter, Mariah Mead of St. Louis Park; siblings, Janda (Bill) Bauman of La Center, WA, Julie (Eric) Dressel of Faribault, Ronald (Michelle) Mead of Ellendale, Jennifer (Jeff) Mueller of Owatonna; sisters-in-law, Sue (John) Madson of Glenville, and Cindy (Dennis) Jensen of Austin; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sharon Mead; parents-in-law, Marvin and Linda Lageson; and an aunt. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the family. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
