Obituary

Richard Lee Schultz, 70, of Medford, died Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Shager Park near Faribault. He was born April 7, 1950 in Waseca the son of Wesely and Florence (Rosenbach) Schultz. Rick graduated from Waseca High School in the Class of 1968. Rick was a proud to have served in the US Army from 1969 – 1976 which included 2 years in Vietnam. Rick married Christine Schwartz and they had two children. Rick later married Tammy Wright, together they had a son. On July 21, 1986, Rick married Janice Wagner in Waseca. Rick and Jan had four children and recently celebrated 34 years of marriage. Rick worked and lived in various places before returning to the Owatonna area where he worked for Bird's Eye Foods and Lakeside foods for many years. He was a proud member of AA enjoying 14 years of sobriety. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW. He previously served on the Steele County Military Funeral Unit, VFW color guard and as the VFW Chaplain. Rick enjoyed making leather goods, fishing, road trips, nature and pinball. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janice Schultz of Medford; children, SkiAnn (and Mark) Christiansen of Waseca, Rick Schultz of Bensonville, IL, David Schultz of Mankato, Heidi (and Nick) Ramirez of Owatonna, Heather (and Luke) Mueller of Owatonna, Brandon Schultz of Waseca, Ciara Schultz of Medford; grandchildren, Taylor Zinkle, Parker Christiansen and Spencer Christiansen, Patrick Schultz and Charlie Schultz, Jocelyn Schultz, Lilly Schultz and Olivia Schultz, Jasmine Ziegenhagen, Marina Ramirez and Adrienne Ramirez, Amelia Mueller, Hayden Schultz; sisters-in-law, Ann (and Leland) Estes of Emmons, Nancy (and Jamie) of Prior Lake and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Clyde Callahan; brothers, Roger Rosenbach, Jerry Schultz, David Schultz. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Clinton Falls. Memorials are preferred to Rick's family.
