Richard Wayne Schleich, 75, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
He was born November 20, 1943 in Winona the son of Richard E. and Katherine (Fasbender) Schleich. On July 24, 1965 Richard married Sharon Baldus in Austin. Richard taught Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy at Owatonna High School for 33 years. He will continue his legacy of teaching through the donation of his organs for research. Richard also enjoyed coaching various sports throughout much of his career.
One of Richard's greatest joys was being with his sons, especially when duck hunting. He loved playing golf with his friends and spending the winter in Florida with Sharon.
He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his surviving sons, Mike and Tony and their wives Kris and Kim. He beamed with pride seeing and talking about his seven grandchildren, Calvin, Danielle (and fiancé Taylor), Natalie (and husband Hunter) Russeau, Laura and Matthew all of Winona and Callie and Brittany of Hutchinson, KS. Sadly, he will miss watching his new great grandchild, Jayce, grow up. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat (and Dick) Kauphusman, Sandy (and Dick) Siewert and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 3pm to 6pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father James Starasinich officiating. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
