Richard Gus Ulrich, 91, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in Dodge Center.
He was born July 20, 1924 in Lewisville, Minnesota the son of Emil and Lena (Dobberstein) Ulrich. Richard worked on his family's farm until he was 21. He then helped on neighboring farms for a few years before spending 5 years at Wilson's Packaging Plant. He worked several years in construction, 13 years as an over the road truck driver, ran the crusher at Fretham Construction and spent the last 15 years in maintenance for the Owatonna Park and Rec. He was also an auctioneer. Richard enjoyed traveling, especially with Helen in their motorhome, playing accordion, playing cards and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Richard Ulrich, Jr., Vickie (and Vernon) Hinchley, Deb (and Jim)Behne, Nancy (and Arlen) Techau, LeeAnn Chikes, Sue (and Chuck) Reese, Cory (and Jody) Ulrich; 26 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; siblings, Ella Hanson, Anna Miller, Fred Ulrich, Herbert Ulrich, MaryLou Bettin and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sons, Larry, Troy, Kevin; grandson, Nicholas Techau; 8 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Monday from 12 pm to 1pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
