Obituary

Richard T. Wagner, 86, of Owatonna, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born January 16, 1925 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Herman and Mary (Srsen) Wagner. He attended Owatonna Schools, and then entered the United States Army serving in the Philippines from 1944-1946. After the service Richard ran a taxi business in Owatonna. He married Bonnie Hollister, May 24, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. He and his brother owned and operated Wagner's Pool Hall downtown. Bonnie died July 23, 2009 after the couple had been married for 61 years. Richard enjoyed riding motorcycle, gardening, and working in his lawn. He was a member of the Steele Wheels Motorcycle Club for many years. He is survived by daughter, Peggy (and friend Greg Schwintek) Ballenthin of Little Canada; daughter, Brenda (and Kevin Kunkel) Wagner-Kunkel of Madison Lake; grandchildren, Paula (and Chris) Fedunok Matthew (and Kristen) Ballenthin, Jeffrey (Andrea) Ballenthin; five great grandchildren Emma, Caden, Audrey, Clara, and Zoe; and a sister Margie (and Wayne) Abell of Gull Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, two sons Michael and Brian, two sisters, and one brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday May 22, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday May 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation: 05/22/2011 16:00 05/22/2011 19:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 05/23/2011 11:00
