Robert M. 'Bob' Overholt, 66, a resident of Davenport (formerly of Kenyon), died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport. Robert Malcolm Overholt was born November 30, 1944 in Kenyon, Minnesota to Leon James and Ethel Esther (Steinberg) Overholt. He graduated from Kenyon High School and attended college at Mankato State. Bob was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years. He was united in marriage Marianne L. Bell on February 27, 1998. He had been a maintenance engineer for the Davenport Family YMCA and St. Ambrose University. He was a talented woodworker, and enjoyed building birdhouses. He cherished the time spent with his wife and friends at the Oceanside. He also enjoyed riding bikes and riding and working on his Whizzer. Those left to honor Robert''s memory include his wife, Marianne Bell-Overholt, Davenport; brothers, Richard Overton, Kenyon, MN, and James (Pat) Overholt, Chico, CA; sister-in-law, Karen Overholt, Park Rapids, MN; mother-in-law, Mary Joanne Bell, Davenport; Brothers-in-law, Dick (Beth) Bell, Eugene, OR, and Ed Bell, Naperville, IL; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Mike) Gurvey, Glenview, IL., Geralyn (Tim) Frazer and Theresa (Joe) Devine, all of Davenport, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tommy Overholt, father-in-law, Charles Bell and sister-in-law, Mona Bell. May they all rest in peace. There will be a local memorial gathering in Davenport at a later date. Following Bob''s wishes his visitation and burial will take place in his hometown of Kenyon, MN. There will be a visitation Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Kenyon Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Kenyon V.F.W. Honor Guard. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan, Genesis Family Medical Center, Dr. William Davidson and Genesis Medical Center West Campus for their loving care these past two months. Memorials can be made to Assumption High School, Davenport, or Good Samaritan Society, Davenport, or the Kenyon VFW Honor Guard.
