Robert H. Dressel , 78, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Owatonna Hospital. He was born September 12, 1931 in Le Sueur, Minnesota the son of Hollis and Fern (Pick) Dressel. Robert entered the United States Army on November 13, 1952 and served during the Korean war until his honorable discharge on September 16, 1954 and then joined the Le Sueur Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Ida Mae Larson on August 12, 1961 in Northfield and they made their home in LeSueur County where they farmed. They also lived in Waterford where Robert worked at Case Dealership in Northfield, was a cook at Faribault State Hospital, and then cooked at Northfield Odd Fellows Home. They then moved to Owatonna where he owned and operated AW Drive-In in the summers and worked in the winters at Gandy Company then retired from the Owatonna Canning Company. After his retirement, he worked part-time as a security guard at Federated Insurance Company. Robert was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was actively involved in Special Olympics. He is survived by son, Anthony Dressel of Owatonna, brother, Richard (and Kathy) Dressel of Le Sueur, sister, Ramona (and Lloyd) Nystrom of Webster Groves, Missouri, nieces and nephews, Eric (and Beth) Nystrom of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Karin Nystrom of Salt Lake City, Utah (and fianc Ryne Johnson of Chico, California), Ingrid Nystrom of Afton, Missouri, and Andrew Nystrom of Fenton, Missouri, great nephew, Connor Nystrom and great niece, Mia Nystrom. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae, his father Hollis Dressel; his mother Fern Dressel. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Grace Baptist Church on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM . Funeral services will be held July 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church, Owatonna with Pastor Donn Kittle officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna with military honors provided by Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Grace Baptist Church.
