Obituary

Robert J. Quint, 82, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Homestead Hospice House after fighting a brave year long battle with lung cancer. Robert 'Bob' Quint was born July 29, 1930 in Winnebago, Minnesota the son of John and Mary (Schumann) Quint. He attended high school and later enlisted to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1946 until 1953. He was assigned to the USS Rogers and USS Nicholas during the Korean War. He later returned home and was united in marriage to Helen B. Martin on May 28, 1955 in Wells. After a short time living in Mankato, Robert was transferred to Owatonna and worked for Truth Hardware and later for Owatonna Tool Company where he retired after 37 years in 1992. Helen died February 11, 2010. Robert liked to read, bird watch and the outdoors. Helen and Bob were avid campers spending 14 years as campground hosts for Big Woods State Park in Nerstrand and most recently finding a 'home away from home' with the seasonal folks at Camp Faribo in Faribault. Bob was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Clubs. He is survived by his sons Steve (and Susan) Quint of Lakeville; John (and Kristina) Quint of Las Vegas; Craig (and Kam) Quint of Owatonna; a daughter Lisa (and Bradley) Parker of Princeton; five grandchildren, Sara Quint, Kelsey Quint, Andrew Quint, Addison Parker and Devon Parker, a great grandson Carter Lehman, two brothers, Larry (and Diane) Quint of Monroe, MI; Roger (and Marie) Quint of Minneapolis; three sisters, Hazel Sweeney of Highland, IN; Delores (and Roland) Osmundson of Delavan; Marian Carlson also of Delavan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Quint, his parents; two brothers Alva Quint and Harold Quint, and a sister Isabell Foster. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorial services will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Military honors will be provided by Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.
