Robert A. Seykora, 88, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House. Robert was born March 29, 1921 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Anton "Tony" and Marie (Hammel) Seykora. He attended and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1940. Bob then went to Gregg Business College in Chicago, IL and Drake University in Des Moines, IA. He worked on the Alcan Highway in Alaska before entering the United States Air Force where he was a navigator. He served during the end of WWII. After his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Owatonna and was united in marriage to Audrey Partridge on January 3, 1946. He owned and operated Kelly Company in Owatonna. After he sold his share of the business, he bought the Firestone Tire and Buick Garage and sold Buick, Dodge and General Electric appliances through Oakdale Motors located in the Oakdale Shopping Center. Bob was instrumental in the building of the shopping center and also the Linn Drive residential community. He also worked for Wenger Corporation. Bob was active in the Owatonna Elks Club where he was a lifetime member and also a charter member of the Owatonna Country Club. He also was a member of the Shriners and an original member of the West Hills Commission and served on the Owatonna Park Board. Bob was also involved with Duck''s Unlimited as a lifetime member. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, duck and pheasant hunting, woodworking and cabin life. He is survived by his wife Audrey Seykora of Owatonna; two sons, David (and Lynn) Seykora of Owatonna; Bill (and Mimi) Seykora of Alexandria; two daughters, Jean Seykora of Moose Lake; Jane Seykora of Belle Plaine; and three grandchildren, Rachel Seykora, Jonathan Seykora and Andrew Seykora. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton "Tony" and Marie Seykora and a sister, Louise Freeburg. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at The Associated Church with The Reverend James Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials go to the Associated Church, the Homestead Hospice House or donor''s choice.
