IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert A. "Bob"
Sorenson
August 8, 1940 – July 28, 2025
Robert Allen Sorenson, age 84 of Owatonna, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Owatonna Hospital.
Bob was born August 8, 1940, to Gordon and Jenny (Strand) Sorenson. He was a graduate of Drummond High School in Drummond, WI. Bob received his Master of Science Degree from Wisconsin State University in Superior, WI.
Bob was united in marriage to Dianne Skorka on November 4, 1960. After 12 years of teaching and coaching at Boyceville, WI and Silver Bay, MN, Bob decided to make a career change and the family moved to Owatonna in 1974. Bob began a new career at Owatonna Tool Company. During his 25 years with the company, he managed the sales force in OTC's OEM Department and served as OTC's first Director of Product Management. Bob joined Power Team in 1988 as the OEM Sales Manager. Some of Bob's highlights include establishing and staffing the first Product Management Department, involvement with OTC's first diagnostic tester products, and the growth of Power Team's OEM business. He retired in 2001.
Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna, the Elks Club, and the Eagles Club. After retirement, a big part of Bob's life was spent at their home on Lake Owen in northern Wisconsin. Near the area where he and Dianne grew up, Bob enjoyed renewing friendships and especially spending time on the lake boating, skiing, and fishing with his grandsons. He served on the Lake Owen Board. Bob also enjoyed golfing, had a love of music, and a secret talent of playing the spoons. He was a die-hard Packers fan. His family will remember him as a loving man with a great sense of humor and an even greater heart.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dianne; son, Raymond Sorenson; daughter, Patricia (Steve) Omann; grandchildren, Ryan, Brad (Aren), and Jason (Mary) Omann; great-grandchildren, Norah and Baker Omann; and a niece, Kay-Ann (Don) Mattson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Foundation, Trinity Lutheran Church, or an organization of the donor's choice.
