Rodney Ray Earlywine, 55, of Owatonna, died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born December 6, 1963 in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of Gary and Helen (Morrison) Earlywine. Rodney grew up in Prairieton, IN. He graduated from South Vigo High School in Terre Haute, IN. He was the valedictorian of his class as well as being active in music and sports. In 1986, Rodney graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. Rodney married Susan Brewer on May 17, 1986 in Terre Haute, IN. He worked for International Mineral and Chemicals, QO Chemical, Keil Chemical and Velsicol in Indiana and Tennessee. He then accepted the plant manager position with Arkema, Inc. in Blooming Prairie which relocated the family to Owatonna. Health issues forced his early retirement from Arkema where he was a Safety Auditor at the time.
Rodney was an avid Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Wild fan. He enjoyed nature and outdoor activities including bike riding, bird watching, jet skiing and canoeing. He loved music of all kinds and recently spent time building bird houses.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Earlywine of Owatonna; son, Devin (and Heather Odenthal) Earlywine of Ellensburg, WA; daughter, Alexa (and Sam Helmich) Earlywine of West Des Moines, IA; brother, Rick (and Deborah Wilson) Earlywine of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Karen Earlywine of Paris, IL, Karla Orman of Terre Haute, IN and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. Private family funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 with interment in the Dania Cemetery in Havana Township. Rodney and his family are grateful for the comfort, love and unending support given to them by their friends and family. Memorials are preferred to River Bend Nature Center, From The Heart Run/Walk, Dania Cemetery or to the donor's choice.
