Rodney Luverne Nelson, 65, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 29, 2020, at his home. He was born on February 28, 1955, in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Harold and Carol (Giedd) Nelson. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1974. Following his schooling, he worked at Mustang in Owatonna. On July 14, 1984, he married Mary Laust at First Baptist Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their three children. Rodney was a ground master, mowing cemeteries. He also worked at Truth and most recently Viracon. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, was an avid Vikings fan and adored his grandchildren. He is survived by children, Ryan Nelson, Courtnee Boettcher (Josh Horejsi) and Jason Nelson all of Owatonna and grandchildren, Chayanna Boettcher, Devon Horejsi, Taylor Horejsi, Michael Horejsi and Zachary Horejsi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Carol; wife, Mary Nelson; sister, Lori Stockwell and infant brother, Anthony Nelson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6, 2020, from 12-1PM. A Memorial Service will be held June 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna.
