Roger Anthony Deml, 78, of Owatonna, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1941 in Owatonna, the son of Anton and Helen (Renchin) Deml. Roger attended school in Owatonna prior to going to Ag School in Waseca. He married Marlys Kriesel August 25, 1962. The couple later divorced. On February 28, 1981 Roger married Connie Nordland who later preceded him in death in 2002. Roger owned Deml Manufacturing where he made hog feeders for a few years prior to working as a service technician for Pargas in Medford. In 1969, he started Deml Heating and in 1998 he added Fireplace Connection to his business. Roger retired from Deml Heating in 2013 and has remained active in Fireplace Connection. During his career, Roger was a member of several industry related groups. He was also a member of Sertoma, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Club. Roger was a hardworking man with little time for hobbies but he did make time to travel. He enjoyed his worldwide travels with his wife and friends. Roger spent a lot of time at his lake home near Webster, WI, where he loved entertaining family and friends. He is survived by his children, Brian (and Paula) Deml of Owatonna, Denise (and John) Schroeder of Owatonna, Coleen (and Leif) Thompson of Webster, WI, Scott (and Carrie) Deml of Waseca, Lori (and Eugene Gadacz) Klemmensen of Ellendale, Keith (and Brenda) Klemmensen of Blooming Prairie; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Francis (and Pat) Deml of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Deml; son, Roger Deml, Jr.; great grandson, Phil Schroeder; brothers, Thomas Deml, Bernard Deml, Theodore Deml and an infant brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm. Interment and private family services will be held at Havana Cemetery.
