Roger VerDayne Fosness, 91, of Meriden, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at St. Crispin Living Community in Red Wing. He was born April 16, 1928 in Joyce Township, IA the son of Leonard and Burnet (Fure) Fosness. Roger farmed and drove truck with his brother prior to serving in the US Army. Following his military service he married Darlene Midlang on October 20, 1953 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, IA. The couple moved to a farm near Meriden in 1958 where they farmed together until 1985. They continued to live on the farm and Roger was an over the road truck driver for nearly 20 years. Roger and Darlene moved to Owatonna in 2014 and Darlene preceded Roger in death in 2018. Roger then moved to Red Wing to be closer to his daughter. Roger was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and the trips to Canada and Alaska that went along with his love of fishing. He is survived by his children, James (and Janice) Fosness of Lexington, TX, Faye (and Dale) Anhorn of Red Wing, Carol Fosness of Orlando, FL, Dan (and Elana) Fosness of Lakeville; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, infant daughter, son, triplet great grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Meriden on Thursday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held October 3, 2019 at 11am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Meriden with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
