Roger Henry Halla, 58, of Owatonna died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Roger was born on April 1,1959 to Henry Hubert Halla and Mildred Mary (Fisher) Halla in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1978 and was proud of being an Owatonna Indian. He ran cross country in high school, and played intramural basketball after high school.
Roger married Sandra McConn Halla on September 7, 1996. He was an adoring husband and a loving and dedicated father to Elizabeth (Larry) Bratsch of Owatonna, Lucas McConn, United States Navy, currently stationed in Gulf Port Mississippi, Jacob McConn-Lamp of Fargo, Hannah Halla (residing in Heaven) and H'evona Halla of Owatonna. He loved his children and was very devoted to his wife Sandra. The children would say that Roger was a man of determination and once he decided on something, that was what it was. The only veering factor from a plan was the soft spot he had for their mom.
Roger worked as an Assembler in Manufacturing for the King Company in Owatonna for 20 years and then went to General Equipment for 17 1/2 years until illness prevented him from continuing. Roger loved to work. He took great pride in working hard and in the quality of work he provided. This was not limited to work, but to his life as well.
Roger, in his early days enjoyed raising dogs and Coon Hunting competitions. He loved the outdoors which included fishing, especially fly fishing. His most memorable trip was to Nova Scotia, Canada in 2017. Sandy would say watching him cast his fly rod was a magical and beautiful rhythm. Hunting, fishing and simply being with nature watching animals all brought him joy. He loved to cut down trees and work the land. Sandra affectionately called him Her Mountain Man" and she was his His Lady. He enjoyed Nascar, the Minnesota Wild, and surprisingly the Opera. Roger's first love was Jesus. He was a member for 22 years at Northridge Church in Owatonna and truly enjoyed his church family. He was a man of integrity. Your word, your handshake, was his standard. His Yes was Yes, his No was No and his commitment was true. Roger was a simple man loving God, his wife and his family; always wanting to clear the obstacles in loved one's paths so that no one would miss being with Jesus. Also surviving are his siblings, Carol (Bill) Abraham of Bartlett, IL, Roseanne (Jeff) Heil of Claremont, Lori (Larry) Olson, Darrell (Mary) Halla, Mary (Mark) Kenney all of Owatonna and Linda (James) Golnick of St Charles, IL.
Roger was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Hannah; parents Henry and Mildred Halla; sister, Sandra Halla and his nephew, Christopher Heil.
