Obituary

Roger Eugene Rosecke, 81, of Owatonna, died Friday, December 11, 2015 at Owatonna Hospital. He was born June 4, 1934 in Dodge Center the son of Edward and Helen (Adams) Rosecke. Following high school Roger worked for Gandy Company before serving 4 years in the US Army. Roger married Joyce Brockmiller Nov. 14, 1959 in Medford. The couple lived in the area until moving to a farm near Lemond. They farmed near Lemond and later near Steele Center before moving to Owatonna in 1999. Roger was a talented welder and worked for many years with the Rochester Local 6 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union. He also taught welding for the Owatonna Public Utilities. He retired from pipeline work at age 65 but continued to work part time until 2006. Roger was a member of Aurora Lutheran Church where he had previously been active as a deacon and Sunday School. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and dancing. He and his wife Joyce were inseparable and the two loved fishing, time up north at the lake and going to the casino together. He is survived by daughters, Kelly (and Kelli) Plotz of St. Charles, Kimberly Esparza of Claremont; sons, Michael Rosecke of Rochester, Thomas Rosecke of Owatonna; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly (and Loren) Krause of Owatonna; brothers, Darrell (and Judy) Rosecke of Red Wing, Richard (and Linda) Rosecke of Circle Pines; many nieces and nephews and his special friend Barb Combs. He was preceded in death by his wife, sister and one granddaughter. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and one hour before the service at the church . Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 at 2pm at Aurora Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephanie Wood officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery.
