Roger William Soukup, 71, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home. He was born January 11, 1945 in Owatonna the son of William and Dorothy (Grunklee) Soukup. Roger graduated from Owatonna High School. He worked with his father building houses and later took over the business with his brother. He later went to work for Rocon, retiring from construction after an injury. He then worked for Itron in Waseca. Roger married Linda Paulson December 24, 1994 and the couple made their home together in Owatonna. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion and the Eagle's. Roger was happy when he was surrounded by his family and therefore loved family trips up north and to Wisconsin Dells. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and woodworking. Roger was an avid Vikings fan! He is survived by his wife, Linda Soukup of Owatonna; children, Christy (and Rich) Bach of Thornton, CO, Jason (and Kari) Soukup of Thornton, CO, Nate (and Shelly) Soukup of Owatonna, Jason Young of Owatonna, Amy Richter of Owatonna; grandchildren, Tyler, Zachery, Makenzie, Jordan, Anthony, Christopher, Taylor, Avery, Jackson, Carter; siblings, Judy (and Dick) Serby of Tyler, TX, Jim (and Karen) Soukup of Owatonna, Diane (and Jerry) Strain of Rochester; mother-in-law, Virginia Paulson of Owatonna and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dewayne. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
