Rolland (Rollie) Jake Schletty, age 78, passed away peacefully at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN on August 1st, 2013 from complications of heart disease. Rollie was born to Lawrence and Edna (Stevenson) Schletty on August 24th, 1934 in Concord Township. He was raised and attended a rural school in the same area through 8th grade. Rollie met Adeline Dohrmann in 1951 and started to attend mutual events even though she was warned to stay away from those 'Schletty boys'. They were later married on June 28, 1959. They made their home in the West Concord area. In his teen years, Rollie worked on the family farm. In 1959, he began to work for Roberts Implement in West Concord. He continued working there until 1983 when he had his first heart attack. He then began working at Roberts Brother''s Hardware and was employed there for a number of years. He later returned to farming and mechanical work with multiple local farmers. Having loved farming, this made for a very fulfilling life. Along with farming, Rollie was a passionate race car fan. Other than his son, Dale Earnhardt was his most respected driver. Rollie was fortunate enough to help kick start many local dirt track drivers. His knowledge and passion was handed down and is still being used on the race track today. If you didn''t find Rollie on the race track, you could find him with a fishing pole in hand sitting in the boat on the lake. He and Adeline spent many vacations with family and friends fishing from sunrise to sunset and sometimes into the night. Another favorite pastime of Rollie''s was bowling. He never did get the big 300; however, he spent many hours with his wife, family and friends attempting it. Lawn mowing was also a great passion of his. Towards his later years, he spent many hours grooming various lawns in Concord Township and the greater West Concord area. Those who are familiar with Rollie know that he is an avid collector of MM memorabilia. The grandkids knew that the canisters were always full and could expect a number of treats from Grandpa. Rollie is survived by his wife Adeline and children; Tamara Laqua (Duane Barwald) of Dodge Center, MN; Zane (Darla) Schletty of West Concord; Kimber Schletty of Rochester, MN; Brett Schletty, Chippewa Falls, WI; Erika (Leroy) Wohlfiel of Mantorville, MN. 10 Grandchildren: Travis (Kristal) Schletty, Trenton and Dallas Laqua, Courtney and Cody Schletty, Gareth Tlougan, Logan Onken, Taryn, Drew and Jace Wohlfiel. 3 Great Grandchildren: Brandi and Riley Schletty, RJay Onken. Sister Delores (Ed) Roberts of West Concord and Sister-in-law Carol (Larry) Mundy of Dodge Center, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Delma Bishop and Margaret (Maggie) Vallett, brothers Melvin (Mel) and Garth Schletty, granddaughter Trisha Schletty. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Concord Church of Christ with Tim Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
