Ronald "Ron" Mongeau, 73, of Owatonna, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Methodist Hospital, Mayo Campus, in Rochester.
Ron was born July 1, 1951, and raised in Farmington, to the late Darrel and Doris Ruud Mongeau. He graduated from Farmington High School Class of 1969. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1971 to 1973. Ron married Diane (Stewart) on July 22, 1978. In 1987, Ron and Diane moved to Owatonna. Ron loved the outdoors; where he loved to golf, fish and being a part of a motorcycling club, where meeting new friends was in his nature. He worked at McKinley School for over 24 years as the Head Custodian. After his retirement in 2013, he and Diane began wintering in Panama City, Fl. Ron loved his family very much. Being around all of them made his family complete.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane; two daughters, Amy (Rodney) Wade of Maple Park, IL and Jill Evans of DeKalb, IL; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Hal) Arnason of Deerwood, MN, Steve (Sue) Mongeau of Elk River, MN, Kenneth (Sandy) Mongeau of Owatonna, MN, and Debbie Wannebo of Richfield, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Mongeau; a brother, David Mongeau and brother-in-law, Tom Wannebo.
Family will receive friends Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, from 10 am to 11 am with a Celebration of Life to follow. Military Rites will by rendered by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
