Ronald Dennis Berg, 63, of Wanamingo, Minnesota died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, Minnesota. He was born November 9, 1951 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Donald and Florence (Hagen) Berg. Ron grew up and attended school in Kenyon, Minnesota, graduating in 1970. He eventually moved to Wanamingo. Ron married Diane Kohn on September 12, 2008 and they have been together over 26 years. Ron eventually worked for the Federal Prison in Rochester. He then was employed by the Postal Service until his retirement due to health problems. Ron served on the Wanamingo City Council for a number of years and Mayor for one term. He served on the Goodhue County Historical Society and Zumbrota Ambulance Board. He loved to travel and was always planning his next trip. Ron and Diane spent winters on South Padre Island, TX. He was planning his next trip right to the end. In November he contracted a severe infection and had been hospitalized since that time. Ron enjoyed golfing until his body wouldn't let him, driving his 1930 Model A, and spending time with the grandchildren, who were most important to him. Ron had many friends who he spent much time with. Among other things, he will be remembered for his hearty laugh and his love for life. He leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Diane Berg of Wanamingo; stepchildren, Nick (Lynn) Auseth and their children, Alicia, Ashley, Shelby, and Bailey of Wanamingo, Amy (Jason) Raths and their children, Lucas and Brenden of Wanamingo; great granddaughter, Lydia; sisters, LoisAnn (Walter) Cheever of Cleveland, and Barbara (Roger) Nelson of Mankato; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Elizabeth Kohn of Wanamingo; sister-in-law, Sally (David) Fredrickson of Wanamingo; brother-in-law, Stuart (Debbie) Kohn of Dennison; numerous nieces and nephews; 1 great nephew; special cousin, Patsy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wanamingo on Monday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wanamingo with The Reverend Chris Culuris officiating.
