Ronald Lee Dutton, 68, of Owatonna, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at his home after a courageous 2 �½ year battle with brain cancer.
He was born April 26, 1946 in Little Falls, Minnesota the son of Lyle and Anne (Mueller) Dutton. They lived in Randall, Minnesota then moved to Bixby, Minnesota. Ronald graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1964. He then worked at the Owatonna Airport as a spotter for crop dusters. Ronald attended Mankato State University then the University of Minnesota for Mathematics. He married Lois Stenzel and in their 29 year union they had two children, Greg and Cynde. Ronald enlisted in the United States Army on October 23, 1967 and served as a computer operator while stationed in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on July 16, 1969. Ronald retired from Josten's as a Senior Analyst in the yearbook division for over 41 years. In 2001, he met Jeanie (Hermel) Bonser and they were married April 6, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Ronald was a member of Owatonna RC Flying Club and enjoyed Go Kart racing and mechanics. He was a gear head and could build or fix anything mechanical. He enjoyed his motorcycle and twice rode to Sturgis with his wife, Jeanie. He was also a volunteer driver for the Veterans Administration. Ronald had a gentle kind spirit. He enjoyed practical jokes and had a dry sense of humor. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Dutton of Owatonna; son, Greg (Sarah) Dutton of Minneapolis; daughter, Cynde (Brian) Buhmann of New Richland; step daughter, Cassie Noble of Owatonna; step son, Derek (Sarah) Bonser of Owatonna; ten grandchildren, Liam, Claire, and Aidan Dutton, Matt, Morgan, Jake, and Ben Buhmann, William and Claire Noble, and Easton Bonser; brother, Terry (Sheila) Dutton of Walker; sister, Jan (and Doug) Klemmensen of Ellendale; sister-in-law, Anita Dutton of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Dutton.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Haug officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Home Care and Hospice.
