Ronald Ramon Exe, 75, of Owatonna, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minnesota. Ron was born August 3, 1940 in rural Byron, Minnesota the son of Hilman and Clara (Holt) Exe. He was baptized and confirmed at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell, Minnesota. Ron attended school in Byron. Ron served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. After returning to civilian life, Ron worked as a machinist with Owatonna Tool Company which later became SPX. Ron retired after 37 years of employment. On January 14, 1994, he was united in marriage to Rita Brose. Ron was an avid sportsman and gunsmith. Ron participated in many trapshooting events and most generally took first place with his shooting skills. Ron was a lifelong member of the NRA, and also numerous fraternal organizations including the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and Elks. Ron is survived by eight siblings; Frank (LaDonna) Exe, DeWayne (Marie) Exe, Audrey Carlson (Paul Jordan), Jerold (Donna) Exe, Vernon (Linda) Exe, Marylin (Francis) Carlson, Doris Meling, and Carol (Lloyd) Carlson. Ron is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rita, brother, Lawrence Exe and his wife, Doris, and brother-in-law, Jeff Meling. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2016 at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2016 in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna, Minnesota with full military honors conducted by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna is handling arrangements.
