Ronald William Racek, 84, of Owatonna, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Brookdale Living Community. He was born October 7, 1931 in Owatonna the son of Joseph and Alice (Pavek) Racek. He graduated from Owatonna High School and later served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, Flight Engineer. Following his military service he married Joann Granowski November 23, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. The couple lived and farmed in rural Owatonna for many years. Joann preceded him in death in 1994. Ron served his community in many ways. He was former Chairman and 41 year member of the Owatonna Township Board, served on the Owatonna Mutual Insurance Co. board of directors, served on the Gainey Conference Center Board of Overseers, past member of Steele County Board of Adjustments and past member of Owatonna Rural Fire Association. He is survived by his son, Brian Racek of Owatonna; daughter, Jody Angelo of Woodbury; grandson, Jonathan Angelo of St. Paul; companion, Jean Larson of Medford; brother AG Chic Racek of Owatonna; sister, Belle King of Gypsum, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Joann Racek; son, Jeffrey Racek; brothers, Marvin Racek, Sebastian Bud Racek, Joseph Racek, Jr., Clarence Casey Racek, Lawrence Racek; sisters, Mildred Wanous, Lydia Brecht, Sylvia Racek. A celebration of life reception will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3pm to 7pm. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Area Hospice or to the donor's choice. Many thanks to our friends at Brookdale Living Community who took excellent care of Ron.
