Ronald Jerome Ross, 89, of Claremont, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at Seasons Hospice Home in Rochester.
He was born July 12, 1934, in Nicollet County, Minnesota the son of Carl and Edna (Rydeen) Ross. Ron moved with his family in 1946 from St. Peter to their farm located in rural Claremont, where he lived until his passing. Ron graduated from Claremont in 1952. He served in the Army. Ron and Ardis (Schmoll) were married on August 15th, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. They were married for 50 years.
He farmed, owned his own well repair business, and finally was a heavy equipment operator. Ron was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 60 years. He liked to stop by Wobbrock Trucking in Claremont and visit with the guys. In his later years, he enjoyed tinkering around the farm and having coffee at the Service Center in Claremont. Ron enjoyed a lively conversation and could hold his own in a card game. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could repair almost anything. He always had a soft spot for his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his children, Craig (Allison) Ross of Claremont, Clem Ross of St. George, UT, Carrie (Tom) Johnson of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrea "AJ" (and Chris) Franko, Brandon Ross and Family, Andrew Johnson, Brittany (Andrew Wagner) Johnson, Rebekah (Kade) Gwin, Carly Johnson; great-grandchildren, Reeve, Sawyer, and Brooks Franko; sisters, Margaret Prusha, and Carol Hames.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis Ross; parents, Carl and Edna Ross; granddaughter, Melissa Ross; sisters, Edie Sinell, Arlene Anderley, Shirley Ross, Judith Ross; brother, Stanley Ross.
Visitation will be at Grace Lutheran Church Dodge Center on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 from 1PM to 3PM. Funeral services will be held on June 27, 2024, at 3PM at Grace Lutheran Church Dodge Center with Pastor Elliott Malm officiating. The interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. Memorials are preferred to a place of the donor's choice.
