Ronald John "Butch" Vaith, 80, of Owatonna, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. He was born February 22, 1939 in Blooming Prairie the son of Arthur and Ruth (Grass) Vaith. Ron graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1957. He served in the US Army from 1957-1961. After returning home from the military, he married Mary Kay Jones on June 20, 1964 in Austin. The couple made their home in Owatonna where Ron was a parts manager for Hursh Motors. He retired in 2006 and in retirement worked part time for Carquest. Ron enjoyed many things throughout life including racing stock cars, golfing, bowling, fishing and square dancing. He loved sports and cheered for the Minnesota Vikings. Ron also enjoyed watching NASCAR races. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Vaith of Owatonna; daughter, Shanie Vaith (and Fiance Kris Armstrong) of Owatonna; sons, Randy Vaith of Owatonna, Michael Vaith of Owatonna; grandson, Brandon Distad and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Vaith; sisters, Donna Yentsch, Eleanor Wilson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and on Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:30am at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Ernie Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
