Obituary

Rosaline Amelia Kinsey, 85, of Owatonna, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Village at Legacy Point, Waukee, IA. Rosaline was born March 30, 1925 in Claremont Township, Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of George and Martha (Hargefeld) Behne. Her family (Behne, Hargefeld, Ahrens, Kruckeberg) had settled in Havana and Aurora Township of Steele County in the 1850's and were among the founders of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Havana Township in 1865. She was baptized April 26, 1925 at home and confirmed May 21, 1939 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended Claremont Public and St. John's Christian Day schools through the ninth grade, at which time she began working as a housekeeper in the Claremont, Owatonna and West Concord areas. She was united in marriage to George R. Kinsey of Cascade County, Montana on February 6, 1946 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple originally made their home in Great Falls, MT, but returned to make a home in Claremont. They moved to Owatonna in 1952 and joined St. John Lutheran Church where they remained lifelong members. She dedicated herself to caring for and raising her family. She then was employed by Knode Enterprise from 1968 to 1970 and by Owatonna City Hospital from 1970 to 1975. She opened her own business, "Rose's Cleaning Service" in 1975. She retired from full time employment in 2003, but continued to provide occasional service to customers until 2008. Rosaline enjoyed playing cards, reading, doing word search and crossword puzzles, decorating cakes, doing yard work, watching baseball, football, basketball and enjoyed walking. She particularly enjoyed writing her autobiography, a ten year project she undertook following the death of her husband, George on June 1, 1985. Rosaline lived in Owatonna until September 2008 when she moved to Waukee, IA to live near one of her sons. She is survived by three sons, Larry (and Charleen) Kinsey of Adel, IA; Jerry Kinsey of Cleveland, TN; Barry Kinsey (and Bernice Kuure) of St Anthony Village, MN; seven grandchildren, Jessica (and Jason) Sturm, Chris (and Angie) Kinsey, Jennifer (and Chad) Barr, Meghan Kinsey, Matthew Kinsey, David Kinsey, Anna Kinsey, seven great grandchildren, Kristina, Zachary and Emily Sturm, Jake Kinsey, Emma, Paige and Audrey Barr. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, a sister who died at infancy, two brothers, Clifford and Marvin Behne; and her twin sister, Rosalyn (Behne) Abrahams. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter and Intern Pastor Andy Zoerb officiating.
