Rose Helen Jirele Schmidt Hohrman, 90, of Owatonna, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born September 13, 1920 in Summit Township the daughter of Frank and Amellia (Schiller) Jirele. She attended rural school through 8th grade at which time she was employed on the farm of Del Radke. Rose married Carl H. Schmidt February 2, 1938 and the couple moved to the Schmidt farm in Meriden Township where she still resided. Carl preceded her in death June 18, 1966. She married Hans Hohrman, Sr. on December 16, 1967 in Owatonna. She and Hans enjoyed traveling to Europe and many other foreign countries. Rose was a 4-H leader and loved being on the farm. She enjoyed life outdoors which included hobbies such as flower and vegetable gardening and time with her dog, Skeezix. Most of all, Rose loved the time she shared with her family and friends. She is a present member of Marion and Rebecca Circles at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the Steele County Extension Club and served as Secretary for the Home Council for three years. She is survived by sons, James (and Janice) Schmidt, Myron (and Sandy) Schmidt, Dewey Schmidt, Hans (and Karen) Hohrman all of Owatonna; grandchildren, Julie (and Tom) Rabaey, Jill (and Paul Mummert) Schmidt, Richard (and Bethany) Reyant, Andrea (and Chris) Slater, Matt Schmidt, Jon Schmidt, Renee Reyant, Linda (and Phil) Pesheck, Bob (and Denise) Hohrman, Jeff Hohrman; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by two husbands, two daughters, one step son, one son in law, five sisters and one brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12 from 4pm to 8pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 2pm at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Building For Generations'' Fund, Homestead Hospice House or to the donor''s choice.
