Roy Malm of Malm Jewelers passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville. He was 93.
Roy was born on July 19, 1922 in Sugar Bush Township, Becker County, MN, to Emil and Mary (Gaardsmoe) Malm. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1946, Roy married Dorothy Jean Hosfield in Owatonna. He learned how to build and repair watches in Elgin, IL. In 1968, he opened his own store, Malm Jewelers. Roy and Jean owned and operated the store for 32 years, retiring in 2001.
Roy is survived by a son, David Malm of Apple Valley, MN; a son-in-law, Alan Peterson of St. Michael, MN; two grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean (Hosfield); daughter, Carole (Peterson); daughter-in-law, Kim Malm (Nordstrom); two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 220 S. Cedar Ave., Owatonna, MN 55060 on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Michael Tippett officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna with military honors conducted by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association or donor's choice.
