Roy William Pappy Adkisson, 77, of Owatonna, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1938 in Brownwood, Texas the son of Thomas and Emma (Byrd) Adkisson. Roy served in the Korean War. He was a crane operator, certified welder, drove truck and worked on the oil rigs in California. Roy was a great father and grandfather to his 8 children, 29 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was a man of humor and loved history. He could answer any question about history that you would ask. He was also known to live an adventurous life. Most of all he was known for his golden heart that was full of love and care for all.
His hobbies included metal detecting, fishing and pheasant hunting. He pheasant hunted over two of the best German Short Hair hunting dogs, Scrappy and Cooper. Both dogs recently died in 2013 and 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Baxter Adkisson of Owatonna; former wife, Sara Adkisson and their children, Michael (and Patricia) Adkisson of Las Vegas, NV, Laura Twiss of El Cajon, CA, Angie Brimadge of Norway; former wife, Mila Holmes and their children, Sheri (Rinaldo) Mendoza Moreno of Fresno, CA, Barbara (Justin) Seto of Mansfield, Brisbane, Australia, John Adkisson of Faribault, Roy Adkisson of Fresno, CA.
He was preceded in death by son, Tommy Adkisson and a sister.
Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9am to 10am. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
