Royal Harry Staver, 91, of Owatonna, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born July 20, 1925 in Winslow, Illinois the son of Harry and Nellie (Farrand) Staver. Royal graduated from Curlew High School in 1944 in a class of five. He married Lora Griggs in 1950. He worked several jobs in Iowa before moving to Rochester where he worked for Crenlo Inc. for nearly 30 years. He retired in April of 1988. Royal belonged to Rochester Single and Solos for many years. He enjoyed going to many dances and social events and made many friends through that organization. Royal was also a charter member of two square dancing clubs. Royal's passion was going to garage sales, auctions and flea markets. He was always looking for unique items. He enjoyed making sales and talking to his customers. Royal married Thora Spinler May 11, 1990 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Following their marriage the couple lived in Owatonna. They enjoyed traveling together, dancing and listening to music. He is survived by his wife, Thora Staver of Owatonna; daughter, Ruth (and Denis Labelle) Boudet of Rochester; sons, Randy (and Sheila) Staver of Rochester, Russell Staver of Rochester; grandchildren, Rose Boudet, Joe Boudet, Destiny Aanenson, Tiffany Kacir, Brittany Ryan; 3 great grandchildren; step sons, Curtis (and Suzie) Spinler of Nampa, ID, Douglas (and Natalie) Spinler of Philadelphia, PA; step daughters, Christine (and Steve) Bartsch of Owatonna, Diana (and Jon) Noller of Excelsior; 10 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating.
