Obituary

Russell C. Gasner, 83, of Waseca, died peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Colony Court Memory Care and Suites in Waseca. Russell was born February 4, 1932 in Deerfield Township, Minnesota the son of Christ and Mabel (Dartt) Gasner. He farmed with the family near Pratt and graduated from Owatonna High School. Following school, Russell served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. After receiving his honorable discharge he worked at Christgau's Drugs before being a full time student at the DeVry Institute in Chicago. After college he was employed at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, TX as an electronics inspector and later began working for Rocket Dyne in McGregor, TX. He then worked nine years for the US Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. In retirement Russell enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, photography, fishing, dancing, and donating his garden produce from his garden to the food shelf and others. He also supported the VFW, and was a member of the National Retired Federal Employee Association and was a very active member of the Owatonna Solo Parents and Singles until the last couple of years. Russell is survived by his brothers, Duane (and Dessie) Gasner of Owatonna; Robert (and Christena) Gasner of Ellendale; his sisters, Carol (and Donald) Karsten of Medford; Shirley Burdick of Waseca; sister-in-law, Eunice Gasner of Waseca and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Christ and Mabel Gasner, three brothers, Leslie Gasner of Waseca; Christ Gasner Jr. of Owatonna; Vernon Gasner at infancy; and three sisters, Margaret Hartle of Owatonna; Dorothy Morgan of Austin; and JoAnn at infancy. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Loren Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Hoffman Cemetery in Deerfield Township.
