Russell A. Stenbakken, 91, of Faribault, formerly Nerstrand died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St Lucas Care Center. He was born January 23, 1920 in Nerstrand, Minnesota the son of Hans and Thilda (Jordahl) Stenbakken. Russell attended school in Nerstrand, and lived in the Nerstrand area where he farmed. He married Leila Dahms November 5, 1970 after the death of his first wife Elizabeth. Russell was an avid outdoorsman and a very good rifleman. He is survived by his wife Leila Stenbakken of Faribault, son Steven (Gina) Stenbakken of Dennison, step children Rueben Jr. (Connie) Boevers of Apple Valley, Ramona (Donald) Baalson of Faribault, Rose (Mike) Stenbakken of Nerstrand, and John Boevers of Nerstrand. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and his special granddaughter Shelly Castle. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon with Pastor Marvin Kormann officiating. Interment will be in the Valley Grove Cemetery in Wheeling Township. Michaelson Funeral Home of Kenyon is handling arrangements.
