Obituary

Ruth P. Jacobson, age 92, of Kenyon, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Heritage House Elder Care in Faribault. She was born March 23, 1928 in Nerstrand, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Kispert) Hildebrandt. Ruth graduated from Kenyon High School and St. Lucas School of Nursing. On October 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lawrence "Bud" Jacobson at Dale Lutheran Church. They farmed together on the family farm. Ruth also worked as a registered nurse at District One Hospital and the Faribault Regional Center until her retirement in 1991. There she found her true passion in caring for others even developing and maintaining many special relationships. Ruth enjoyed attending garage sales, listening to music, creating arts, crafts and cards. She also enjoyed sports, golfing, fishing and camping. Ruth loved spending time with her family and was an avid fan of her children's and grandchildren's events. She liked collecting memorabilia especially Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gophers items. Ruth could often be found watching and feeding the birds, tending to her flowers, painting and needle crafts, spending time at her place in Waterville, traveling to casinos especially Treasure Island and going on shopping trips with her sisters and friends. She was a member of Holden Lutheran Church and lifelong member of the Kenyon VFW Auxiliary. Ruth is survived by her children, Jeff (Renae) Jacobson, Shirley (Don) Woodword and Tim Jacobson all of Kenyon; grandchildren, Melissa (Dale) Callstrom, Jason (Marybelle) Jacobson, Lacy (Carl) Larish and Rob Woodword; great-grandchildren, Dylan (fiancée Hallie Still) Callstrom, Britta (Owen) Tracy, Jay and Eva Jacobson, Spencer Miner; many nieces and nephews; staff and residents at the Heritage House Elder Care. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence "Bud" Jacobson who died on October 29, 2009; son, David Jacobson; one great-grandson, Gunnar Callstrom; brothers, Marvin and Roland Hildebrandt; sisters, Fern Flom, Alice Helgeson, Jane Aase, Elaine Walsh and Marian McVary. A private family service will be held at Holden Lutheran Church with Pastor Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Holden Lutheran Church or the Kenyon VFW. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage House Elder Care for the wonderful care of their mother over the past seven years.
