Ruth Ann Kvittem, 85, of Wanamingo, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born June 26, 1926 in Madison, Minnesota the daughter of Lamont and Gladys (Pattee) McLagan. She attended school in Madison to the eighth grade. Her family moved to Cherry Grove Township and she attended Kenyon High School. Ruth then worked on the family farm. She married Alvin Kvittem on September 10, 1949 at Dale Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Kenyon area. In 1996, they retired from farming and moved to Wanamingo. Ruth was a member of Dale Lutheran Church and was active in Circle and Ladies Aide. She enjoyed quilting, oil painting, gardening and horseback riding. She is survived by her husband Alvin Kvittem of Wanamingo; daughter, Debbie (and Mark) Olsen of Nerstrand; son, Reed (and Jill) Kvittem of Wanamingo; five grandchildren, Dawnae Sexton of Nerstrand, Taylor Kvittem of Eagan, Brett Kvittem of Wanamingo, and Tara and Tia Johnson of Rochester; one great grandson, Jaelyn Sexton of Nerstrand; five brothers and sisters, Larry (and Wanda) McLagan of Owatonna, Peggy Tovey of Beaverton, OR, Dick (and Nancy) McLagan of Spokane, WA, Ardith Garner of Owatonna, and Charlene (and Larry) Vanderhyde of Winnepeg, Canada. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Dawn Kvittem, grandson, Dane Underdahl, daughter-in-law, Debbie Kvittem, three brothers, Duncan, Donald, and Dee, three sisters, Marlene, Jackie, and Dorothy. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, July 22, 2011, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Dale Lutheran Church, Kenyon on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Dale Lutheran Church, Kenyon with Rev. Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in the Dale Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Dale Lutheran Church, Kenyon Sunset Home or Faribault Hospice.
