Ruth Marion Milhaupt Jorstad, 84, of Kenyon, Minnesota died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at her home. Ruth was born October 8, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Della (Voltner) Krohn. She graduated high school in Milwaukee. Ruth married Arthur Milhaupt on August 19, 1950 in Milwaukee and they made their home in Hastings, Minnesota where they raised four children. Arthur died October 2, 1975. Ruth worked as a financial worker for Dakota County Economic Assistance in West St. Paul. She commuted daily from 1977 until 1992, when she retired. In 1990, she moved to Kenyon, Minnesota and married Oscar Jorstad on July 13, 1991. Oscar died August 15, 2007. Ruth was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon where she served as the wedding coordinator. She also served on Kenyon City Council for 8 years. Ruth loved her family; she had a generous heart, and deeply cared for others. She enjoyed calligraphy, reading John Grisham novels, watching CSPAN and Blue Bloods, shopping at Bachman's and Donahue's Greenhouse, gardening, and hosting deck parties at her home. She is survived by her children, Karla Carlson of Bloomington, MN, Jeff (and Kim) Milhaupt of Hastings, MN, Andrea (and Jim) Gesme of Cannon Falls, MN, and Paul (and Sara Lapp) Milhaupt of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Tom Milhaupt, Kyle Milhaupt, Keri (and Nicole) Gesme, and Kali Gesme, Ben Milhaupt and Grace Milhaupt; two great grandchildren, Sommer and Hunter Gesme; step son, David (and Dede) Jorstad of Minnetonka; step grandchildren, Siri and Gunnar Jorstad, and Jennifer Bailey; step great grandchildren, Ella and Colin Bailey; many extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arthur Milhaupt and Oscar Jorstad; step daughter, Janet Edwards; sister, Mabel Krohn; brother, William Krohn. Visitation will be at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating.
